[Guide] Bevi Alert Center - Backflow Preventer Installation Required
In order to meet IAPMO certification requirements, a backflow preventer is required in all Bevi Models. Ensure the backflow preventer is ASSE 1032 or 1022 certified when installed outside of the machine. Depending on your local requirements you may be required to install a different model to meet your local code requirements.
Required parts and recommended tools
Required Tools and Materials
Backflow Preventer Kit: 720-0131 (includes 1x ⅜ NPT Backflow Preventer, 2x PTC to NPT Plastic Fittings, ¼” Width / 10.5" Length Sealant Tape, and 2x ⅜” Red Locking Clips)
Task 1 - Inspect and Assemble your Backflow Preventer
Inspection and Assembly Procedures
1.1. The devices and parts must be inspected for cleanliness before assembly.
1.1.1. Look carefully for any metal shavings within the threads
1.1.2. If there is contamination and/or metal shavings, do not use the parts. Contact the Bevi Quality team if unacceptable parts are found.
2.1. Tape Fittings
2.1.1. Apply 2-3 turns of tape around the threads
2.1.2. The tape should be installed on the threads of the fitting
in a clockwise direction so that the tape tightens as the fitting is tightened. Applying tape in the wrong direction will result in the tape balling up during fitting installation.
2.1.3. Ensure there is no tape overlapping the fitting opening.
2.2.1. Finger tighten the fittings onto the backflow preventer, one fitting per side.
2.2.2. Using a wrench, tighten the fittings an additional 2-3 full turns.
2.2.3. The fittings can be hand/wrench tightened while installed on the machine if they leak during testing.
Install backflow preventer
2.3.1. Install the backflow preventer in the machine per the Machine Installation Instructions or Backflow Preventer Installation Tech Tip (see reverse page for details) Backflow Preventer Installation Guide Digital Version:
