- Task 3: Reinstall Chiller, Test Function, & Finish
Before beginning:
- ⚠️ This procedure requires removal of the Standup 2.0 back panels to gain access to the replacement area. Turn off the machine and disconnect the power cable before opening the back panels.
- ✅ The water system must be depressurized before starting. Be sure to follow the steps in the “Chiller Remove & Replace” guide to ensure this is completed correctly.
Required Tools & Parts
- Replacement recirc pump, FRU #720-0257
- Phillips Head Screwdriver
- Needle Nose Pliers
Task 1: Remove Original Chiller Recirc Pump (& Disassembly)
WARNING | |
HAZARDOUS VOLTAGE (120V) CONTACT MAY CAUSE ELECTRICAL SHOCK AND INJURY. DISCONNECT POWER BEFORE SERVICING. |
-
Remove the chiller from Standup 2.0 using Tasks 1 through Task 6 of the chiller remove & replace guide. Click or tap to view.
- The machine must be powered off and 120V power cable disconnected before removing the sheet-metal back panels.
- Follow the steps from Task 1 to Task 6 to pull the chiller out from the back.
-
ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD: Once again, ensure the machine has been powered off and 120V power cable completely disconnected before continuing to the next steps.
-
Once chiller is slid out of the machine and accessible, make sure it is set on the floor and is stable.
-
Next, disconnect Recirc Pump and Ice Bank Temp connectors.
- Identify the correct black plastic connectors to disconnect (circled in image below). The wires may also have visible shrink-wrapped labeling to help identify.
- “Chiller Recirc & Agitator” power: Black/orange twisted wires connected to red/black wires.
- “Ice Bank Temp” sensor: Black/brown twisted wires connected to white wire(s).
- Identify the correct black plastic connectors to disconnect (circled in image below). The wires may also have visible shrink-wrapped labeling to help identify.
Identify Recirc Power & Ice Bank Temp Sensor wire connectors. | Use extra caution if cutting zip ties: |
-
Locate the metal bracket of the recirc pump. Remove ice sense wires, and the bracket screw and hex nut:
- Disconnect the “ice sense” wire bundle connections
- The connectors are at the ends of the single red and white wires, and they pull off of the ice sense pins.
- Remove the phillips-head bracket screw; retain/set aside.
- Remove the bracket hex nut; retain/set aside.
- Removing this nut also unfastens the black “ice sense” grounding wire from the ice sense wire bundle.
-
Move all the disconnected “ice sense” wires aside (red, white, black).
- TIP: There is another white wire (two-strand) visible in this area which is NOT part of the twisted red/white/black “ice sense” bundle. This is the “icebank temp” sensor wire, which was disconnected from the brown/black twisted wires in Step 4. This wire can stay in place for the following steps.
- Disconnect the “ice sense” wire bundle connections
-
Disconnect these two tubes from their push-to-connect fittings:
- The left circled 1/4" tube (black) is the cold water line.
- The right circled tube (larger, clear tubing) is the recirc outlet tube. This is part of the pump/bracket assembly and will be replaced with the new one.
- The other clear tube is the recirc return line and will stay in place.
- Set aside the red retaining push-to-connect clips, keep these for later.
- The other nearby tubes should stay connected.
-
Remove the 2 screws on both sides of the light gray “cold line” angled fitting.
- Locate the two screws on either side of this fitting, and remove.
- Set aside, do not lose the screws.
- The black plastic “drinking coil holder” underneath is now free. Do not knock or drop this piece!
-
Carefully remove the black plastic “drinking coil holder” located below the gray right-angle fitting.
- Using needle-nose pliers, pull the black plastic “drinking coil holder” forward and out.
- DO NOT DROP IT inside the chiller! Take care when removing this part.
- Set aside with the 2 screws for optional reinstallation later. May be discarded if not reinstalling (see step 15).
-
Grasp the bracket to lift and pull the old recirc pump assembly up and out.
- The tabs/ears on either side of the recirc pump bracket need to fit through the slot cutouts on either side of the round hole as the pump is lifted through. If the assembly gets stuck when lifting, check if the tabs have caught or misaligned on their way up through the slots/opening.
The chiller will look like this once the old recirc pump assembly is removed: |
Task 2: Install New/Replacement Recirc Pump (& Reassembly)
-
Insert the new recirc pump into the chiller.
-
Again, take care to fit the tabs through the slots in the opening while lowering the assembly into place.
-
-
Connect the clear recirc tube (gray connector) back to the push-to-connect fitting.
- Secure tube in fitting with the red clip that was removed earlier.
☑️ Reconnected. |
-
Reattach the “ice sense” wires and bracket screw/hex nut.
- Reattach the bracket phillips-head screw.
- Reattach the black “ice sense” grounding wire and secure with the bracket hex nut.
- Seat the red and white wire “ice sense” connectors back onto the pins.
-
Reconnect the Recirc Pump power and Ice Bank Temp sensor connectors.
- Connect:
- Brown/black twisted: Ice Bank Temp sensor (from machine)
- White 2-wire: Ice Bank Temp sensor (to sensor)
- Connect:
- Orange/black twisted: Recirc power (from machine)
- Red/black wrapped: Recirc power (to recirc)
- Connect:
-
Secure the wire bundles with new zip ties as shown:
-
Reconnect the black “cold line” to the light gray angled fitting.
- Ensure the red push-to-connect clip is secured.
- OPTIONAL: Reattach the black “cold line holder” clip or the two screws. This is often difficult and can be skipped. Take care to avoid dropping the part or screws into the chiller!
Task 3: Reinstall Chiller, Test Function, & Finish
-
Reconnect the chiller and slide back into the machine.
-
Make sure all 7 tube connections, 3 electrical connections, and 4 screws have been reattached.
-
-
Plug in and switch on the machine.
-
Enter the Service Panel and navigate to Troubleshooting Tools.
-
Enter the Service Panel (click to review steps).
- In the Service Panel, tap “Alerts and Maintenance” in the lower right side of the screen.
- In the Alerts and Maintenance screen, tap “Troubleshooting Tools” at the bottom left of the screen.
-
- From the Troubleshooting Tools screen, turn the recirc pump toggle to “ON”.
-
-
Under the Controls section, tap to expand the Chiller dropdown.
-
Tap the “Recircatator” off/on button in the Controls section.
-
-
-
Confirm if the recirc pump has turned on via these methods:
- Method 1: Listen carefully for a quiet hum upon turning the toggle “on”, if in a quiet location.
- Method 2: Under the Data section, tap to expand the Chiller dropdown. Verify the Recircatator current value is reading between 0.1 A to 1.8 A.
- If good, switch the Recircatator back to “off” under the Controls section and proceed.
- If failed, see next steps below.
-
Final steps:
- ✔️ If successful, DONE - reattach the sheet metal back panels.
- Do NOT touch or reach in the interior of the machine while it is connected to power.
- ✖️ If failed:
- Power down the machine and disconnect the plug. Do not resume working until the machine is disconnected from power.
- Return to Step 1 (click to jump) to slide the chiller back out to access the connections.
- Double-check all connections are correct and secure. Return to Steps 11-13 to review and confirm.
- Proceed through Steps 16 - 20 to reinstall chiller, repeat test, and confirm.
- Please contact Bevi Technical Support if still unable to confirm recirc pump success.
- ✔️ If successful, DONE - reattach the sheet metal back panels.
