Overview
You have been directed to this page because you have encountered a Machine Alert that indicates this machine requires a Pumphead Retrofit. This document outlines how to work with the Bevi Standup 1.5, 1.0, or 0.75 models to fix this issue.Ā Ā
Why do I need to do a Pumphead replacement?
Select units were assembled with fittings that were torqued above specification. This will lead to the fitting failing prematurely, causing significant leaks. The pump head will need to be replaced immediately in order to prevent potential leaks.
Recommended Tools and Required Parts Required
- P/NĀ 720-0153 Pump Head (formerly 300-0033)
- #2 Phillips Screwdriver
- John Guest Push-To-Connect Tool (optional)
Task 1: Remove Chiller from the machine
All chiller repairs begin by powering off the chiller and unplugging it from the power source.
1. For Standup 1.0 Style Chillers (Inputs located on the back, Outputs on top)
-
- Turn off the water supply.
- Carefully slide the chiller out of the machine and place it on the floor.
NOTE: Ensure there is enough slack on all tubing before removing to prevent any kinks or damage to the tubing.
2. For SU 1.5 and CT Units (All Inputs and Outputs located on the front)
- Turn off the Buffer Tank
- The buffer tank is located below the flavor shelves
- Rotate the shut-off valve located on the left-hand side of the tank Ā¼ā turn counterclockwise,
- When in the off position, the valve will be pointed in the upright direction
- Turn off the CO2 tank
- Depressurize the still and sparkling water lines
- Locate the Still and Sparkling Diagnostic Line on the inside of the door
-
- Run the ends of the diagnostic lines into a bucket or container.
- Open the valves to release pressure on the water line.
- Disconnect the water in, ice bank fill, and CO2 tubes from the chiller.
- Remove the 2 screws on the bracket at the base of the chiller.
- Carefully slide the chiller out of the machine and place on the floor.
Task 2: Remove the cover from Chiller
1. For Standup 1.0 Style Chillers
- Locate the shut off valves for the still and sparkling output lines
- Turn the valves to the off position
- Disconnect the tubing from the OUTPUT side of the shut off valves.
- Remove the two screws securing the black plastic panel on top of the chiller, and pass the panel through the hole to the inside.Ā
- Use a #2 Phillips screwdriver to remove 8 total screws from the rear and front panels.Ā
- Carefully pull up the sheet metal cover. Note: There may be burrs and/or sharp edges.
2. For Standup 1.5/CT Style Chillers
- You should not need to disconnect the still or sparkling lines to remove the sheet metal cover
- Use a #2 Phillips screwdriver to remove 8 total screws from the rear and front panels.Ā
- Carefully pull up the sheet metal cover. Note: There may be burrs and/or sharp edges.
Task 3: Replace the Pump Head
1. Locate the pump head and remove it from the pump
- Remove red clips from the pump head fittings and disconnect the tubes from the black push-to-connect fittings
- Use a #2 Phillips screwdriver to loosen the screw on the collar
- Remove the pump head and set the collar/screw to the side
2. Install the New Pump HeadĀ
- Ensure the replacement pump head rotates freely with finger pressure and has pre-torqued and glued fittings.
- Place the collar over the pump head and tighten it against the motor.Ā
- Ensure the pump head is flush to the motor.
- Tighten the collar so itās snugĀ
- Insert water tube/elbow to pump head fittings.
- The top fitting is the input from the water-in supply.
- The bottom fitting is the output from the pump to the carbonation tank
Task 4: Replace Cover and Reinstall ChillerĀ
- Carefully replace the sheet metal cover. Note: There may be burrs and/or sharp edges. Use caution.
- Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver to re-insert 8 total screws from the rear and front panels.Ā
- Re-install the Chiller
- Turn the Water back on and test the unit for any leaks or loose fittings before closing the Unit.
Task 5: Validate Sparkling
- Dispense 1 to 3L of sparkling water continuously to purge the carbonation chamber and force the pump to pull fresh water.Ā
- Taste test the sparkling water and make sure it is bubbly and not flat. Purge again if necessary.Ā
- If no sparkling water is being produced at this time, go through the troubleshooting process again.
