Overview
An OptConnect device can be used to add a cellular connection to Countertop 1.0 devices installed at customer sites where internet connectivity via WiFi or a wired ethernet connection is unavailable. The video above shows you how to connect your Bevi machine to the internet via an OptConnect device, or follow along with the steps below.
Note: These instructions apply to Countertop 1.0 units only; Countertop 1.5 units do not use OptConnect since they have their own cellular capability.
Installation Steps
Task 1: Prepare for installation
- You need to be sure you have an active OptConnect kit on hand for each machine you want to connect.
- The OptConnect box will include a power cord, an antenna, a modem, and an ethernet cable.
- You will need the OptConnect serial number to complete the setup.
- This can be found on the back of the OptConnect modem or on the box.
- Please take note of the serial number before attaching the modem to the back of the machine.
Task 2: Connect hardware components
- For the Countertop 1.0 Bevi machine, the ethernet cable is below the counter hanging from the Bevi machine head unit.
- Place the magnetized antenna on top of the chiller in the cabinet.
- Attach the antenna wires to both threaded terminals on the OptConnect modem.
- Plug the ethernet cable hanging from the Bevi machine head unit into the OptConnect modem.
- Plug the power cord and adapter into the OptConnect, and the other end into a power outlet.
- Check for green lights on the modem to ensure the OptConnect is functioning.
- Place the magnetized OptConnect modem on top of the chiller (carbonator).
Task 3: Configure connection settings
- In the Service Panel, tapĀ Reconnect to update the connection, and select OptConnect.
- Enter the OptConnect serial number, and tap Done.
- It should now show a green internet icon and the word Connected in the Service Panel.
(Optional) Task 4: Troubleshoot any connection issues
If you do not see that a connection has been established, check that:
- The modem lights are on.
- The power cord is fully plugged into the power outlet, as well as the modem.
- The ethernet cable is pushed in at both ends.
- The antenna is plugged into the modem and attached to the machine.
