Decommissioning Signature Countertop 2.0 (Uninstall)

This article provides step-by-step instructions for technicians to properly decommission the Signature Countertop 2.0.

Required Tools & Parts

  • 720-0376 - FRU - PACKAGING KIT
  • #1 Phillips screwdriver
  • Water receptacle
  • 1-1/8” or adjustable wrench
  • Rags or towels
  • (Optional) PTC removal tool

Decommissioning Procedure

Task 1: Drain and Depressurize the Water System.

  1. Turn off the water source to the Compact Chiller.
    1. Locate the shut off valve for the water supply, and turn 90° to the closed position.

  1. Open the front access panel.
  2. Turn off the Buffer tank.
    1. Rotate the shut off valve to the CLOSED position.

  1. Navigate to the Troubleshooting Tools screen.
    1. Touch the service icon in the upper left corner.
    2. Touch "Start Service".
    3. Enter the PIN to access the service panel.

  1. On the left side of the screen, touch "Machine Alerts".
    1. Touch "Troubleshooting Tools".
  1. Place a container under the nozzle, and pour COLD water until water is no longer dispensing.
  2. Pour AMBIENT water until water is no longer dispensing.
  3. Pour SPARKLING water until only CO2 gas is exiting the nozzle.
  4. Close the valve on the CO2 tank.
    1. Turn the valve on the CO2 tank clockwise to close it.
  5. Dispense sparkling water until CO2 stops exiting the nozzle.

  1. Reopen the buffer tank on the front panel.
  2. Remove the filter flush tube from the clips holding it on the chiller.
  3. Place the filter flush tube in a container and open the filter flush valve and allow any water/air to exit from the buffer tank.
  4. Close the filter flush valve and the front panel, then reclip the filter flush tube in the front panel.

Task 2: Disconnect BiBs and BiB Connectors.

  1. Disconnect all eight threaded BiB connectors from the boxes by twisting them counterclockwise and removing them from the bag’s connector.

  1. Disconnect the push-to-connect BiB connector fitting from the BiB connectors.
    1. Place the BiB connectors into a box or bag for transport.

  1. Dump any water remaining in the container from Task 1, and replace the container under the nozzle.
  2. From Troubleshooting Tools, press the “Prime all flavor/enhancement lines” button.
    1. The pumps will run automatically and should clear all flavor lines of concentrate.
    2. If flavor is still dispensing when the first prime sequence ends, prime the lines again. Repeat until no more flavor exits the flavor line.

  1. Dispose of the BiBs that were connected to the head unit.
    1. Dump any remaining concentrate down the nearest drain and dispose of the bags.
    2. Break down and recycle all boxes.

Task 3: Disconnect the CO2 Tank.

  1. Remove the CO2 panel from the top of the chiller.
  2. Disconnect the CO2 line’s push-to-connect elbow from the Compact Chiller.
  3. Use the 1-1/8” or adjustable wrench to disconnect the regulator from the CO2 cylinder.
    1. Once the nut is loose, it can be fully disconnected using your fingers.
  4. Set the regulator out of the way for the time being.
  5. Disconnect the release buckles holding the CO2 tank in the cabinet and remove the CO2 tank from the cabinet.
  6. Remove the CO2 tank mounting hardware from the cabinet.
  7. Replace the CO2 panel onto the top of the chiller.

REMINDER: CO2 tanks should not be returned to Bevi.

Task 4: Mark the Unit as ‘In Warehouse’.

  1. Exit Troubleshooting Tools and navigate back to the Service Panel.
  2. Touch the Settings button in the Service Panel and scroll to the Status row and touch the Edit icon on the right hand side of the Status field.

  1. A Status pop-up box will appear with the option to change the status from ‘Installed’ to ‘In Warehouse’ – select ‘In Warehouse’ at this time.
  2. The Status pop-up box will then confirm that you want to change the status to “In Warehouse” and erase all data.

  1. The Countertop 2.0 will restart automatically and be marked as ‘In Warehouse’.
    1. The machine will boot back up into install mode the next time it is powered on.
  2. Power down the Countertop 2.0.

Task 5: Decommission the Compact Chiller.

  1. Disconnect the 120 V power cord coming from the back of the head unit from the wall outlet.
  2. Lift the front end of the chiller up and slide it forward so that the chiller’s front is positioned over the cabinet’s toe kick to better access the rear of the chiller.
  3. Disconnect the cables from the back of the chiller.
    1. USB communications cable.
    2. 24 VDC cable.
    3. 120 V power cord
  4. Place the cables to one side of the chiller.
  5. Disconnect the push-to-connect water lines from the back of the chiller.
    1. Main water in (3/8”)
    2. Sparkling out (1/4”)
    3. Still out (1/4”)
    4. Ambient out (4mm)
    5. NOTE: There may be some residual water in the lines that leaks from the chiller after the lines are disconnected.
  6. Remove the filter from the chiller and dry up any water that falls from the filter head.
  7. Lift the chiller directly up, keeping it as level as possible, and place it on the floor.
  8. Remove the right side panel from the chiller to access the ice bank drain.
  9. Place a small bucket or container under the ice bank’s drain and pull the plug.
    1. NOTE: The container will likely need to be emptied multiple times while draining the ice bank, so be ready to reinstall the plug during this process.
  10. Allow the water to drain into the container until the ice bank is empty.
  11. Replace the plug and right side panel of the chiller.

Task 6: Remove the Head Unit from the Countertop.

  1. Unscrew and remove the split nut from the threaded coupler. If an adapter plate is present between the split nut and the countertop, remove it now.
  2. Slide the two halves vertically past one another to separate the split nut and remove it from the trunkline.
  3. Hold the head unit with one hand on one side and the other hand under the nozzle.
  4. Pull the head unit directly up.
    1. If there is not enough clearance above the head unit, pull the head unit up enough so that the coupler can be removed.
  5. Lay the head unit on its side on top of the counter.
  6. Remove the trunk line and electrical cabling from inside the cabinet.
  7. Repackage the head unit and accessories in the packaging kit, if returning.
    1. BiB connectors
    2. Drip tray
    3. CO2 regulator
    4. CO2 tank mounting hardware
    5. Split nut
    6. Adapter plate (if applicable)

Task 7: Disconnect Source Water and Clean

  1. Trace the water line back to the source, taking care to remove any mounting materials holding the line.
  2. Disconnect the water line from the source.
  3. Clean and wipe down the countertop and interior of the cabinet to clean up any mess left behind.
  4. If needed, show the decommissioned Bevi to the customer contact and explain what work was done.
  5. Demonstrate that all other appliances are back up and running if applicable.
