Overview
This SOP provides Bevi technicians and employees with the procedure for re-aligning internal plastic lugs within 3M™ filter heads. This issue occurs when the internal mechanism does not fully rotate during filter removal, preventing a new filter from being correctly inserted.
Required Tools
- Small flat head screwdriver or similar pry tool

Procedure
Task 1: Identifying and Preparing for Re-alignment
- Open the Bevi front door or cabinet to access the filter.
- Use a flashlight to look directly up into the bottom of the filter head.
- Locate the light-colored plastic internal component and check if the lugs are misaligned with the notches on the dark grey exterior housing.
Task 2: Re-aligning the Filter Head Insert
- Reach into the head with your thumb or a flat-head tool.
- Apply firm pressure to the light-colored plastic component.
- Rotate or push the component until the internal lugs snap back into alignment with the outer housing notches.
- Place your screwdriver or tool against the flat edge of the lug shown in the image below to help rotate the collar plastic collar.
- Take care to not gouge or damage the component.
- Ensure you feel or see the component "click" into its neutral starting position before attempting to insert the filter.
- Align the new filter with the notches and push upward firmly.
- Turn the filter a 1/4 turn to the right (clockwise) until it locks securely.
- If for any reason you are unable to properly realign the filter head and install a filter, please contact Bevi Support at 866-704-BEVI (2384) for further assistance.
Task 3: Filter Installation
- Proceed with standard installation steps or Filter Swap Procedure.
- Check for leaks around the filter head.
