Overview
Bevi Standup 1.0 and 0.75 machines that are experiencing ongoing issues with low or slow flow from the nozzle during a dispense may be impacted by a flow restriction from the plastic 40 psi water pressure reducer. This guide will walk you through the specific symptoms and troubleshooting steps to identify if the pressure reducer is the root cause, and how to replace it with an updated metal water pressure reducer.
Symptoms
- Customer complaints of low or slow flow rate during dispense.
- Flow rate complaints did NOT begin immediately after installation.
- Issues started to present only after the machine had been in use for some time.
- If low flow symptoms are present immediately after installation, the water pressure reducer is not likely the cause of the issue.
Prior Troubleshooting
- Water supply has been tested to verify flow rate and pressure meet minimum requirements.
- Filter has been replaced and did not have any impact on the symptoms.
- Verified Chiller Thermostat is set to 5.
If the Standup 1.5 is experiencing these specific symptoms, and the previous troubleshooting steps have been unsuccessful in resolving the issue, please continue with the the following steps to verify if an updated metal water pressure reducer should be installed.
Required Tools & Parts
- 720-0312 - FRU - WATER PRESSURE REDUCER, 3/8
- 1 L Container
Test the Dispense Flow Rate
- Navigate to the Service Panel.
- Touch the service icon in the upper left corner of the screen.
- Touch “Start Service”
- Enter the Service PIN to access the Service Panel.
- In the Filter section of the Service Panel, touch “Check Flowrate”.
- Place a 1 L container under the nozzle.
- Press and hold the dispense button for Still water to fill the 1 L container.
- The flow rate will be calculated based on the amount of time it takes to fill.
- If the flow rate is less than 2 LPM, or significantly lower than the previously recorded measurements, then the plastic water pressure regulator is likely restricting the flow, and should be replaced with the updated Metal Water Pressure Reducer (720-0312).
- Please Contact Bevi Support at 866-704-BEVI for assistance with ordering the replacement.
Once you have received the replacement Metal Water Pressure Reducer, continue with the Removal and Replacement procedure below.
Removal and Replacement Procedure
Task 1: Depressurize the water System.
- Locate and turn off the source water shut off valve behind the Bevi.
- Place a container under the nozzle.
- From the dispense menu on the screen, pour Still water until no water is coming from the nozzle.
- With the water supply turned off, only a few drops of water should be dispensed.
Task 2 : Remove the Plastic Water Pressure reducer.
- Locate the water pressure reducer.
- The reducer should be installed on the 3/8” water line, between the filter and the water inlet on the chiller.
- Remove the red locking clips and disconnect the 3/8” tubing from both the input and output of the plastic water pressure reducer.
- Remove the pressure reducer.
Task 3: Install the Metal Water Pressure Reducer.
- Connect the 3/8” tube from the filter and backflow preventer to the input of the water pressure reducer.
- Reference the arrow on the metal pressure reducer to verify it is installed in the correct orientation.
- The arrow should be pointing towards the chiller inlet.
- Reference the arrow on the metal pressure reducer to verify it is installed in the correct orientation.
- Connect the the 3/8” tube from the output of the pressure reducer to the water inlet on the chiller.
- Ensure all tubing connections are fully seated.
- Reinstall all red locking clips.
NOTE: The push to connect fittings on the water pressure reducer have thread sealer applied, they should not be loosened or tightened.
Task 4: Retest the Flow Rate
- Power on the Bevi.
- Open the Buffer Tank valve.
- Navigate back to the Service Panel.
- In the Filter menu, touch “Check Flow Rate”
- Place a 1 L container under the nozzle.
- Press and hold the Dispense button for Still water until you have filled the 1 L container.
- Compare the flow rate to the one recorded prior to swapping the pressure reducer.
- If the flow rate improves significantly, then the repair is complete.
- Contact Bevi Support at 866-704-2384 to have the Water Block Retrofit marked as completed on the Well.
- If the flow rate is not improved, further troubleshooting is required to identify the cause of the flow restriction.
- Retest the water supply to ensure it meets the flow rate and pressure requirements.
- Test the flow rate after each component of the water system and compare. If there is a significant drop in flow rate at any component, it may need to be replaced.
- Filter
- Backflow Preventer
