Overview
This guide goes through the step by step process of upgrading a Bevi Standup 2.0 from a Gen 1 to Gen 2 Touchscreen and SBC. To upgrade either the touchscreen or SBC from Gen 1 to Gen 2, both the touchscreen and SBC must be replaced and upgraded at the same time, and must always be the same "Gen" version.

Remove and Replace (Upgrade) Procedure
- Task 1: Enter the Service Panel to open the door.

- Task 3: Remove the Gen 1 SBC.

- Task 6: Install the new Touchscreen.
- Task 7: Install the Gen 2 SBC.

- Task 11: Update the Touchscreen ID

Required Tools & Parts
- FRU P/N: 720-0316 (GEN 1 TO GEN 2 SBC/TOUCHSCREEN UPGRADE KIT, SU 2.0)
- #1 & #2 Phillips Screwdrivers
- Cable Snips
- 3/8" Wrench or Pliers
- Zip tie
Remove and Replace (Upgrade) Procedure
Task 1: Enter the Service Panel to open the door.
- Navigate to the Service Panel.
- Touch the Service button in the top left corner of the main dispense screen.
- Touch "Start Service" on the right side of the screen.
- Enter the access code "1986".
- The door should open. If it doesn't, press the "Open Door" button.
- If the Touchscreen is not functional and you are unable to open the door, please contact Bevi Support at 866-704-BEVI.
Task 2: Disconnect power from Standup 2.0
- Turn off the power switch on the top rear of the unit.
- Remove the power cable.
Task 3: Remove the Gen 1 SBC.
- Remove the restock instruction card by carefully removing the 3 plastic rivets securing the card to the door.
- Gently pry plastic rivets up using a small flathead screwdriver.
- Remove the plastic splash guard.
- This is done by simply gently pinching the left and right sides together to release the tabs.
- Using your cable snips, cut the zip ties securing the cables to the door.
- There are three zip ties that should be cut: Two above the SBC that secure the HMI and Cellular wires, and one below that secures the USB cable.

This will give you more slack on the cables, making it easier to manipulate the SBC and disconnect the cables.
CAUTION: BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL TO NOT CUT OR DAMAGE ANY WIRES.
- Using a #1 Phillips screwdriver, remove all 4 screws securing the SBC to the door.
- Make sure to set the screws aside in a safe place, they will be reused to install the new SBC.
- Disconnect the USB and Ethernet cables.
- These two cables are larger and stiffer than the others, disconnecting them first will allow for easier access to the backside of the SBC.
- Disconnect the two Cellular Antenna wires from the front of the SBC.
- NOTE: These wires will not be connected to the new SBC.
- Gently flip the SBC over to access the connectors on the backside
- Disconnect the 6 remaining cables from the backside of the SBC.
- WiFi Antenna
- 12 VDC Power
- Speaker
- HMI Video
- HMI LED
- HMI Touch
CAUTION: Do not pull directly on any of the wires, as it can be easy to damage or even pull the wires out of the connector.
Task 4: Remove the Touchscreen.
- Place a strip of tape across the top and bottom edges of the touchscreen.
- This will help hold the screen in place when the mounting screws are removed.
- On the inside of the door, remove the 4 mounting screws.
- Set the screws aside in a safe place for reinstallation later.
CAUTION: With the mounting screws removed the screen can fall out. If you did not secure it in place with tape, be sure to hold it in place with your hand as you remove the screws.
- On the front of the Bevi, carefully peel the top strip of tape back and tilt the screen away from the door.
- Feed the wiring out of the hole.
- Remove the screen and all 3 cables from the door.
- None of the wiring from the Gen 1 Touchscreen will be reused, it can be left connected to the old screen.
Task 5: Remove Gen 1 Cabling
- Remove the Restock Board cover.
- Remove the mounting screw at the bottom of the Door Board cover.
- Lift the cover away from the door and remove.
- Disconnect both the SBC power cable and the DCB to SBC USB cable from the Door Board.
- Depress the lock latch to release the cable from the board side connector.
- Disconnect the USB ground wire from the door.
- Using a 3/8" wrench or pliers, loosen the nut securing the ground wires
- Remove the ground wire that is attached to the USB cable.
- Loosely reinstall the nut to hold the other two ground wires in place.
- Cut any zip ties securing the cables.
- Take care not to nick or cut any of the wiring.
- Remove both cables from the Bevi.
Task 6: Install the new Touchscreen.
- Unbox the new Gen 2 touchscreen.
- Carefully feed the 3 cables through the hole in the door, and place the screen onto the door.
- Ensure that the cables are not pinched between the screen and door.
- Secure the screen with two strips of tape to hold it in place as done in the removal process.
- Install the 4 mounting screws.
- As you install the screws, ensure the screen is centered before fully tightening,
- Do not overtighten the screws.
- Note: One screw is longer than the rest, this should be installed in the bottom right corner.
- Locate the small ferrite ring in the packaging.
- Install the ferrite ring on the HMI Video cable.
- Ensure the ferrite snaps together securely, taking care not to pinch the cable.
Task 7: Install the Gen 2 SBC.
- Using a #1 Phillips screwdriver, reinstall the 4 screws to attach the SBC to the door.
- The extra length of the 3 touchscreen cables, including the ferrite, can be tucked behind the SBC when installed.
- Connect the following 5 cables to the SBC, ensuring each cable is fully seated into the connector, ensuring each cable is fully seated into the connector.
- HMI LED Backlight.
- HMI Video (LVDS).
- HMI Touch Sense.
- USB.
- 12 VDC Power.
- Do NOT reconnect the ethernet cable, this will be replaced with a new part in later steps.
NOTE: When connecting the HMI Video Cable, if it requires excessive force to seat the connector, it may be backwards or misaligned. This can damage the pins.
- The cellular and WiFi antennas, and speaker cable are not reconnected to the Gen 2 SBC.
- These will no longer be used, and can be taped or zip tied out of the way,
- Install the larger ferrite ring on the DCB to SBC USB cable.
- The ferrite should be installed just below the SBC.
Task 8: Replace the Power Module and Door Control Board USB cables.
- Remove the plastic top cover from the Bevi,
- Remove the 3 screws at the front bottom edge of the cover.
- Set the screws aside in a safe place for reinstallation.
- Lift up on the front, and remove.
- Remove the 3 screws at the front bottom edge of the cover.
- Remove the top panel from the back of the Bevi.
- Loosen the six phillips screws securing the panel.
- The screws do not need to be fully removed.
- Lift the panel up to unhook from the screws, and remove.
- Place the panel to the side.
- Disconnect both the PDB and BUC USB cables from the Door Board.
- Press and release the lock latch clip on each connector and disconnect from the board.
- Disconnect the PDB USB cable from the Power Module.
- Press and release the lock latch clip on the connector and disconnect from the board.
- Disconnect the BUC USB cable from the BUC Board.
- Press and release the lock latch clip on the connector and disconnect from the board.
- Cut any zip ties securing both cables.
- The BUC USB cable runs up to the top of the machine and around to the left side.
- Both USB cables then run down through the access hole through the door hinge.
- Take extra care when cutting zip ties to not nick or cut any wiring.
- Remove the plastic looming that protects the wiring where it passes through door hinge.
- Once free from any zip ties and looming, fully remove both cables from the machine.
- Install the new PDB and BUC USB cables.
- The shorter of the two cables connects to the Power Module, longer to the BUC Board.
- Connect both cables to the Door Board.
- Route cables the same way as they were removed.
- Do NOT reinstall the zip ties at this time.
Task 9: Replace the Ethernet Cable.
- Remove the two screws on either side of the ethernet port on the back of the Bevi.
- Feed the cable down through the hole and remove it from the machine.
- Connect the new Ethernet cable to the SBC.
- Ensure the cable clicks into the connector securely.
- Route the cable through the hinge and up to the top of the machine.
- Reinstall the two phillips screws to secure the ethernet port to the back panel.
Task 10: Power on the Bevi.
- Reconnect the power cord.
- Power on the Bevi with the power switch.
- When the Bevi is powered on, you should see a series of green LED lights on the SBC.
- If the lights do not come on, recheck the 12 VDC power cable on the SBC.
Task 11: Update the Touchscreen ID
- Once powered on, the new SBC will restart in Factory Mode.
- Connect to the internet.
- Follow the setup instructions on screen to connect to the internet.
- Once connected the Bevi will download and install any available software or firmware updates.
- After the updates are complete, press "Restart".
- At this time, you MUST contact Bevi Support to have the units Touchscreen ID updated.
- The replacement SBC will have a new Touchscreen ID.
- Record the new Touchscreen ID from the screen.
- Contact Bevi Support at 866-704-2384.
- Bevi Support will assist in updating the Touchscreen ID on the Well.
- This will link the new SBC to the physical Bevi machine chassis.
- Bevi Support will restore the original software properties from the old SBC.
Task 12: Test the machine & complete service.
- Test the functionality of the Bevi machine to ensure that the upgrade was successful.
- Reinstall all zip ties that were cut to secure cabling.
- Install the new Gen 2 splash guard over the SBC.
- Reinstall the restock instruction card.
- Reinstall top panel.
- Reinstall back panel.
- Close the door.
- If there are any issues, thoroughly check all connections to ensure cables are properly seated.
