Overview:
This guide will walk through the steps to troubleshoot an Install Diagnostics test failure for HUCB Valves Current. This test will fail when the valve current is detected above or below expected current range, or if no current is detected.
Required Tools & Parts Key or similar thin/flat tool
- Key or similar thin/flat tool
- FRU P/N 720-0370 - HEAD UNIT CONTROL BOARD (optional)
- FRU P/N 720-0390 - DISPENSE ASSEMBLY (optional)
- FRU P/N 720-0385 - CABLE, HUCB TO VALVES (optional)
Troubleshooting Steps
Task 1: Retest
-
Restart the Install Diagnostics test to see if the test passes.
- If the test passes, continue with installation.
- If the test continues to fail, continue to next steps.
Task 2: Remove the head unit shell.
- Power off the Bevi using the power switch on the front of the Compact Chiller.
-
Release to top mounting clip for the head unit shell.
- Place both hands on the sides of head unit shell near the top.
- Using some force, twist the top of the shell to release the top clip.
-
Inside the cabinet, locate the split nut on the threaded coupler at the base of the head unit and loosen it 2-3 turns.
- This will allow you to rotate the head unit for easier access to the back.
Task 3: Inspect the Valve cable at HUC Board.
-
Locate the Dispense Valves connection on the HUC board.
- Inspect the cables and connector for any visible signs of damage.
- Ensure the cable is fully seated.
- If any damage to the cable or connector is found, please contact Bevi Support at 866-704-2384.
-
Carefully disconnect Dispense Valves cable from the HUC board, then reconnect.
- Ensure the cable is fully seated into the board side connector and securely clicks into place.
- Power on the Bevi using the power switch on the front of the compact chiller.
- Navigate back to the Install Diagnostics test screen.
-
Restart the test.
- If the test passes, reinstall the shell on the head unit and continue with the installation.
- If the test fails, power off the Bevi and continue to the next steps.
Task 4: Remove the Dispense Assembly
-
In the dispense area, remove the nozzle shroud.
- Locate the tab, and pull it down to remove the shroud.
-
Remove the nozzle alignment clip.
- From the left side of the head unit, locate the clip aligning the nozzle.
- Pull the clip out to the side to remove.
- Place to the side in a safe space for reinstallation.
- Remove the 4 flavor lines from the routing tab for pumps 5-8 (left side).
- Remove the solenoid wiring from the cable routing tab to allow for extra slack.
-
Disconnect the nozzle assembly from the cross mount.
- Carefully slide the nozzle forward to release from the mount.
-
Using the pull handle, slide the dispense assembly out to the side to gain access to the solenoid wiring.
- While sliding the dispense assembly out, unhook the hot water tube from the routing tab to allow for extra slack and movement.
Task 5: Inspect the solenoid wiring connections
-
Check the wiring connections for each of the three dispense solenoid valves (Still, Sparkling, or Ambient).
- The solenoids are labeled on the carrier.
-
Check for any damage to the wiring connectors and the cable.
- Inspect for any cuts, abrasion, or damage to the wiring.
- Ensure the crimp connections are secure and there are no loose wires.
-
Carefully disconnect, then reconnect the two wires for each of the three solenoid valves.
- When disconnecting, take caution to not pull directly on the wires.
- Ensure the connectors are fully seated.
- There is no polarity for the two connectors per valve.
- Slide the dispense assembly back into place.
- Reinstall the nozzle onto the cross mount.
- Reinstall the nozzle alignment tab.
- Reroute the hot water tube, solenoid wiring, and flavor lines back back into their routing tabs.
-
Reinstall the nozzle shroud.
- Ensure the nozzle is properly aligned and centered within the nozzle shroud.
Task 6: Retest
- Power on the Bevi
- Navigate back to the Install Diagnostics screen.
-
Restart the Install Diagnostics test.
-
If the test passes, continue with installation.
- Reinstall the head unit shell, and retighten the split nut.
-
If the test fails, either the solenoid valve, cable, or HUC Board may be faulty.
